Scaffold Safety

Green insertThe Scaffold Code of Safe Practice, common-sense guidelines for erecting and using scaffold, is available for free in English and Spanish from the Scaffolding, Shoring & Forming Institute (SSFI) . When you order scaffold equipment from Associated Scaffolding, we will also send you a copy of the Code of Safe Practice. You should read, follow, and post this Code whenever you erect or use scaffold.

You should also check for OSHA regulations that cover your types of scaffold. OSHA standards 1926.450 - 1926.454 govern the erection, inspection, and use of scaffold products.

ANSI A10.8-2001 Safety Requirements for Scaffolding are available for purchase from the National Safety Council (NSC).

Many educational materials are also available from the non-profit Scaffold Industry Association (SIA) , which works to promote safety in the industry: CDs/DVDs, Codes, Handbooks, Manuals, Standards, Technical Guidelines, and other materials.
