“Competent Person” means one who is capable of identifying existing hazards in their surroundings or working conditions which are unsanitary or dangerous to employees. A Competent Person has authorization to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate these conditions.
A person can become a Competent Person by way of training and/or experience. A competent person must have the knowledgeable of applicable standards, is capable of identifying workplace hazards relating to the specific operation, and has the authority to correct them. Competent persons can only be designated by their employer.
No matter which course you choose, they both have authorized instructors from Accredited Training Institutes (ATIs) who use materials developed by experts within the scaffold and access industry. This ensures that you receive the highest level of training possible. Upon successful completion SAIA will issue you a pocket identification card and a signed certificate.
