Baldwin Auditorium at Duke

Job: Baldwin Auditorium
Location: Durham, NC
Building: Baldwin Auditorium at Duke University
Equipment Used: Frame scaffold, systems scaffold, and stairs
Need for Equipment: Restoration of dome

The historic Baldwin Auditorium is located on Duke University’s East Campus. The building was undergoing a 2-year renovation and contractors needed to access the top of the dome to restore the ceiling and roof. This was a unique and very delicate space to work in.

The team from Durham, NC did a precise job at erecting a working platform made of frame scaffold to the top of the dome. The team installed a temporary stair tower for easy access. Once access had been completed to the top of the dome, the contractor then needed access to the space between the dome’s ceiling and the roof. The team entered this space and built a scaffold structure made of systems ring lock that hung from the dome’s roof joist. The scaffolding for this renovation was a huge part of bringing this venue back to life, and it is ready to host many events with its’ almost 700 seats.
