One of the most important job site supplies you can have, after safety equipment and PPE, is a reliable, heavy-duty extension cord. Whether it’s for industrial maintenance, equipment service, or construction site applications, a department store extension cord simply won’t do the job, especially not in rain or adverse conditions. That’s why we carry Southwire electrical cords. No other manufacturer of wire and cable has the volume of products as well as the features and quality. They’re designed specifically for industrial and job site usage to provide the durability and reliability necessary to continually supply power, even in harsh or adverse conditions.

About Southwire

While Southwire is primarily known for its wire and cable – nearly 50% of new homes built in the US use Southwire wiring and over 50% of the world’s refined copper passes through their SCR system. Like many of our suppliers, Southwire started as a small company and grew to be a leader in their industry.

In 1937, Roy Richards began Richards & Associates to build power poles in Georgia, rapidly growing to become the second largest contractor under the Rural Electrification Act. However, the business was paused as Richards was called to serve in the Army during World War II, and when he returned from service found that the power poles erected before the war were empty. There was simply no wire.

Richards founded Southwire in 1950, and within two years, the company had shipped out five million pounds of wire. Over the past 70 years, the company has grown to 7,000 employees, serving clients around the world and dedicated to delivering power through sustainable methods. While they are primarily known for wire and cable, we rely on them for their high-quality industrial-grade power cords as they are water-resistant, can hold up to extreme temperatures, and have excellent abrasion, moisture, and sunlight resistance.
